Agent identity

What is an agent identity?

An agent identity is an account of its own for an AI agent, separate from any person’s login, so its access can be limited to what its tasks need, reviewed, revoked and audited.

Why it matters

An agent that borrows a person’s login inherits all of that person’s access and blurs the audit trail. An identity of its own, with least-privilege access and a named person accountable for it, keeps both clear.

Example

A deal desk agent has its own identity that can read Salesforce and post drafts in Slack but can’t approve a discount. The sales ops manager is accountable for its access, and every action it takes is logged under its name.
