AI agent
What is an AI agent?
An AI agent is software that uses an AI model to work toward a goal by deciding on steps and taking actions, such as reading documents, calling tools or updating a system, instead of answering a single prompt.
Also called: Agent
Why it matters
Agents can take on whole steps of a workflow, not just answer questions. That also means they need clear limits, checks on their work, and a person on the decisions that carry real risk.
Example
An invoice agent reads each new invoice, finds the matching purchase order, flags mismatches, and drafts the entry for a person to approve.
