Background agent
What is a background agent?
A background agent runs on its own when an event or schedule triggers it, does a defined job end to end, and only asks a person when it needs a decision. It is the opposite of a chat assistant you prompt step by step.
Why it matters
Background agents take whole jobs off people’s plates instead of making each task a little faster. That is where the larger gains are, and why they need clear limits and good monitoring.
Example
Every Monday at 07:00, a background agent gathers account updates, reconciles the figures, builds the review deck, and posts the conflicts it found in Slack for the lead.
