System of record
What is a system of record?
A system of record is the authoritative system where a type of business data lives, such as a CRM like Salesforce or HubSpot for customers, or an ERP like NetSuite or SAP for financials.
Why it matters
Systems of record show what actually happened and how often it was corrected, which makes them one of the three main sources for mapping real work. Agents that work inside them, rather than in a new tool, are easier to adopt.
Example
A few weeks of Salesforce data shows how deals really move from quote to signature, including how often they loop back.
