Process mining
What is process mining?
Process mining reconstructs how a process actually runs, its real steps, loops and delays, from the event data in business systems rather than from how it is documented.
Why it matters
It often reveals that a documented process has many more steps and loops than anyone thought. Combined with interviews and documents, it shows where the time and errors really are.
Example
Process mining on one company’s CRM found that a seven-step quote process actually took 20 steps with seven loops, according to an FDE audit described on The Startup Ideas Podcast.
