Key-person risk

What is key-person risk?

Key-person risk is the risk that critical know-how sits with one person, so work stalls or suffers when they are away, change roles or leave.

Why it matters

It is often invisible until someone leaves. Mapping how work really happens shows where knowledge lives in one head, so it can be written down and shared.

Example

Only the revenue ops lead knows how multi-year renewals signed early are booked. That rule isn’t written anywhere until a discovery pass finds it.
