Throughput
What is throughput?
Throughput is how many cases a process completes in a given period, such as invoices matched per week or customer issues resolved per hour.
Why it matters
It shows whether AI lets the same team handle more work. Read it next to quality, because finishing more cases means little if more of them are wrong.
Example
In a study of 5,172 customer-support agents published in The Quarterly Journal of Economics, access to an AI assistant raised issues resolved per hour by 15% on average.
