Benchmark
What is a benchmark?
A benchmark is a fixed set of tasks used to score and compare performance. Public AI benchmarks test general skills; a personalized benchmark tests your own work.
Why it matters
A model’s rank on a public leaderboard doesn’t tell you how it will do on your workflows. On one 2026 accounting benchmark, the best model met about 56% of experts’ criteria, and no model got more than 2.6% of tasks right on all eight attempts.
Example
A finance team scores three models on 50 past invoice matches, five runs each, before choosing one.
